You have arrived at a very special place. Redondo de Guayedra is a utopia come true: the dream of Don Normando Moreno, who, together with his family, dedicated more than 30 years to restoring a valley of enormous historical and scenic value.
His vision was clear: to regenerate this territory, respect the environment, create quality employment in the area and keep the natural and cultural values of Gran Canaria alive.
In the 1990s, the valley was abandoned and deteriorated: ruins, rubble, invasive species. Normando and his family took on the challenge of bringing it back to life. They cleaned up farms, renovated houses, reforested the hillsides and returned water to the old irrigation ponds.
At that time, there was nothing: no water, no electricity, no structures left standing. The only vegetation was a few palm trees and the odd solitary tree.
From there, a long process began of cleaning, restoring terraces, rehabilitating old buildings and recovering traditional crops.
Guayedra was not just any place: it was the land chosen by Fernando Guanarteme, the last indigenous king of Gran Canaria, after the pact with the Catholic Monarchs in 1481. A mythical territory that deserved to be honoured and recovered.
After years of effort, the idea arose to share this place with a few guests. In 2017, Redondo de Guayedra Agroturismo was inaugurated: a different kind of ecotourism experience, in direct contact with nature, respectful of the environment and the history that inhabits every corner of the valley.
Thanks to tourism, we can generate quality employment and continue to advance in the regeneration and conservation of this very special environment.
Today, by staying here, you are part of this dream and you are helping us to continue advancing in this project.
The Redondo de Guayedra team is made up of people from the nearby villages in the area. Without a doubt, they are the best ambassadors of our culture and values. They know every corner and convey their love for this place in every recommendation and story they share with you.
We all work with the same affection with which Normando began this journey. We share the same passion: to preserve our environment and offer you a friendly, authentic and enriching stay. We want you to feel the warmth, hospitality and essence of a home away from home.
We believe that another kind of tourism is possible: conscious, responsible and humane. Our pillars are:
· Environmental sustainability – Caring for nature and preserving the ecosystem.
